Welcome to Unit Conversion Trainer (at unittrainer.com). We don’t require accounts, and we don’t ask for your name. However, like most websites, we process some technical data to keep the site working, understand usage, and (in the future) show ads.
1) Who we are (data controller)
Controller: Lasse Winding
Established in Belgium
Contact email: unitconversiontrainer@gmail.com
2) What we collect & why
A) Technical data (website logs and basic diagnostics)
When you visit the site, our hosting and security systems may process technical information such as your IP address, browser/device information, approximate location (derived from IP), pages viewed, and timestamps. We use this to operate the site, prevent abuse, debug issues, and keep the service secure.
Legal basis: our legitimate interests in operating and securing the site (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)), and where applicable, necessity to provide the service you request (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).
B) Analytics (measurement)
We use analytics to understand how the site is used (for example, which pages are visited and how long sessions last). Currently, this may include Google Analytics / Google tag (as configured on the site).
Legal basis: consent where required for analytics cookies/identifiers, and otherwise our legitimate interests. In regions where consent is required, analytics will only run after you choose your cookie settings.
C) Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We may use cookies (and similar identifiers) to: (i) remember your settings, (ii) measure site usage, and (iii) support advertising and ad measurement.
3) Advertising & your choices
We plan to show ads through third-party partners such as Google (e.g., Google AdSense). These partners may use cookies or device identifiers to measure ad performance and, if you consent, to personalize ads.
You can choose between non-personalized ads and personalized ads in our cookie settings (when enabled). You can also change your choices later.
4) Cookie details and duration
Cookie lifetime depends on the cookie type. Some cookies are session-based (deleted when you close your browser), while others persist for a set period.
Cookie list & durations: when our consent banner/cookie settings are enabled, you can view a list of cookies, providers (e.g., Google), and typical durations directly in the cookie settings panel. (This list is provided by our Consent Management Platform and reflects cookies actually used on the site.)
If you prefer, you can also manage cookies in your browser settings. Note that blocking some cookies may affect site functionality.
5) How long we keep data (retention)
We keep technical logs only as long as necessary for security and troubleshooting, typically for 30 days. Analytics data retention is controlled in our analytics provider settings and/or by your cookie choices. Advertising and ad-measurement data retention is determined by the relevant ad partners and your consent choices.
6) Who we share data with
We may share technical and usage data with service providers that help us run the site, such as: hosting/CDN providers, analytics providers (e.g., Google), and advertising partners (e.g., Google). These providers may process data on our behalf or as independent controllers, depending on the service.
7) International transfers
Some providers we use (for example, Google) may process data outside your country, including outside the EEA/UK. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) and provider security measures.
8) Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to object to certain processing. If we rely on consent (for example, for analytics or personalized ads), you can withdraw consent at any time via the site’s cookie settings (when enabled).
You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (Autorité de protection des données / Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit) or with your local supervisory authority.
9) Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date at the top. For material changes, we will also provide a prominent notice on the homepage before the changes take effect.
